Cleaning and Maintaining Your Respiratory Equipment

Respiratory equipment works best — and lasts longest — with a simple, consistent cleaning routine. It doesn't need to be complicated, but it does need to be regular.

Daily: Wipe down your mask cushion with a soft cloth. If your device has a humidifier, empty out any leftover water in the morning rather than letting it sit in the chamber all day.

Weekly: Wash your mask cushion, headgear, and tubing in warm water with a mild, fragrance-free soap. Let everything air-dry fully out of direct sunlight before reassembling.

Monthly: Check your filter. Reusable foam filters can usually be rinsed under running water, while disposable filters should be replaced. A dirty filter is one of the most common (and easiest to fix) reasons a device seems to be underperforming.

For nebulizers, rinse the medication cup and mask after every single use to prevent residue buildup, and do a deeper soap-and-water clean at least once a week.

Avoid harsh chemicals or alcohol-based cleaners on masks and tubing, as they can degrade the silicone over time and shorten the life of the parts.

If you're renting equipment from us, routine maintenance visits are part of your plan — but this simple at-home routine between visits makes a real difference in comfort and device longevity.
